This was a really good installment. I'm glad Reza's becoming more of a main character, though I hope he doesn't begin a romance with Rafe. I was thinking that I might cancel my subscription after this season, but this season is shaping up to be really good!

Break out the party hats! Rafe say’s he’s done with Florian! Now let’s just hope he sticks to it and doesn’t get swayed by Florian’s pretty face again. I think it’s fairly likely Rafe will kept to his “no more Florian” vow. For one thing, he’s too busy staring at Reza’s pretty face.

In “My Life for Your Life,” Rafe and Reza embark on their previously agreed upon outing to go watch City swordsmen. And of course, they end up in Riverside, and somehow Micah ends up going with them. Micah is as adorable as always here. I actually really liked seeing her through Reza’s POV. He’s so confused about how to treat her. She’s a lady who wears pants and acts like she’s not a lady??? And Diane just lets her young ward wander about the city????? How can this be! It was super hilarious.

Do I ship Rafe and Reza? Maybe. I mean, compared to Florian anyone would look like a good match for Rafe. Still, I think it’s probably for the best if they don’t get to together, not least because Vincent is actually out there, secretly alive somewhere. Speaking of that, where is Vincent? What’s up with him? I’m sort of expecting him to dramatically pop up halfway through the season. Hmm. Maybe he’ll show up in the final episode. Actually, thinking about Vincent showing up again makes me predict that Rafe and Reza will get together, just for maximum chaos whenever Vincent reappears.

In other news, Rafe now has a building for his school. Yes, it’s the absolutely hideous one we’ve seen before. From the sounds of it, Diane payed through the nose for it. I’m also suspecting that Davenant may be orchestrating low level harassment against the school. I still don’t think he’s being very effective in “defeating” Diane. He’s like a fly buzzing about her head; i.e. a minor annoyance. But here’s hoping Diane swats him.

Another major thread of this episode is finding out who Kaab’s mystery spy is. I didn’t guess this at all! This shadowy individual sets up a trail of clues for Kaab to follow through the city. I’m looking forward as to how this will play out in the future.

Meanwhile, Everly is urging Tess to seize power and make herself a legend. They’re telling her to make the stories surrounding herself so strong that they’ll be her protector and she won’t even need a swordsman. Tess is reluctant. She’s fully capable of becoming a veritable queen of Riverside, but she doesn’t want that authority. I kind of want to see her go for it though.

All in all, I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. I only wish that there’d been more Diane! But you can’t have everything. Maybe Diane will be making an appearance in episode seven.
