Il problema di quando si fa una raccolta del genere, che comprende la stragrande maggiornaza, se non tutti, dei racconti del soprannaturale di Bierce, è che si finisce per essere indiscriminati. Capisco che il fine di un omnibus non sia quello di presentare un autore ma di raccoglierne la totalità degli scritti, però va anche detto che non tutto ciò che Bierce ha scritto è di alta qualità. Così, accanto alle storie di buon livello, si trovano parecchi pasticci horror che rendono la lettura fin quasi frustrante.

The only issue I had with the audiobook was the audio with Charlotte Perkins Gilman's story The Yellow Wallpaper. It wasn't done very well. Other than that, I enjoyed listening to the stories in this collection. My favorite stories from this collection were Captain Murderer, written by Dickens, Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper, The Wind in the Rose-Bush by Mary E. Wilkins, and I was blown away by the narrator who did Poe's story, Silence.
Because of this audiobook, I want to check our more by Wilkins.
