While we got more of a plot in this book, it was still much more heavily romance. Don’t get me wrong, I love the dynamic between Des and Callie.  He is still super secretive, but you can tell he is catastrophically in love with Callie.  She is extra sassy and pushes Des to his limits, creating a delicious back and forth.

I don’t like to compare book series, but I get major Rhysand vibes from Des.  Shadow powers can disappear and reappear at will, extremely powerful, obsessed with his mate, rather controlling.

While I do believe Des truly cares for Callie and would never make her do anything against her will, he does always seem to get his way.  Even Callie finds herself questioning if he would ever let her go, although she never seems to be truly scared.

Temper is hilarious and I love that she has Malaki so enthralled.  Destroying a portal into the Otherworld to save your best friend is one hell of a way to make an entrance.  I can’t wait to see more of her and Des being chaotic together.  Just from the small glimpse we got, I know it’s going to be glorious.

The Thief of Souls is creepy as hell and I really need to know how people who should be dead are not actually dead.  Now that Callie is immortal, she’s more at risk than she ever was as a human.  Hopefully we actually get a moving plot in the final book to answer all these questions.

All the stars! A little predictable in some parts but thoroughly enjoyable!

I love Des more and more as the series progresses!

Cliffhangers...

Why? I despise cliff hangers. That is all.

Winter 2017 cannot get here soon enough!

Are they really making a series out of this book series?

I did not enjoy this book quite as much as the first but I still liked it. Which is amusing as the cawpile system gave me a lower total get the same star rating.

Anyways. Callie and Des are together but not without issues. He’s not entirely forthcoming with everything, and there also isn’t much mystery solving I this book either. I don’t feel as if there was much progress in the plot, not until the very end. All the action and drama gets saved for the last book, it seems.

This one was.. kind of weird? I think I liked it. Lots of discussion and off page sexual assault though.
