I love all of Sy Montgomery's books and this is no exception. Even though this one is meant for kids, I found it engaging and educational. She travels to the Serengeti to follow the wildebeest migration.

Sy Montgomery is a cool person and writes great books about animals for children, teens and adults. This book taught me a lot about the Serengeti, Tanzania, and the role of the wildebeest (also known as the gnu) in the lives of all the animals in the Serengeti. The book is written as a travel journal from a safari Montgomery took with naturalist friends to follow the wildebeest migration. Fascinating and sometimes a little scary, the reader gets a close view of a real African safari, as well as challenges facing the people and animals, and interspersed are short sections about migrating animals all over the world. For readers who love animals and armchair travel.
