Much like the first book in this series, this was an enjoyable read for me, but nothing special. To be honest, I like John Ambrose better than Peter, but I wasn’t at all surprised by how things turned out. Jenny Han successfully delivers another cute, relatively lighthearted, and slightly awkward high school romance.

I feel like I haven’t read romance in so long, and this was such a fun read! I love this book. Perfect!

Peter is great and all, but how can Lara Jean turn her back on a three-named babe with manners? John Ambrose Mclaren, you deserved more.

I thought this book was good but not great.

This relationship is mega toxic , not to mention kitty (her sister) being a bit of a know it all and just being annoying.

I enjoyed the story but that just really annoyed me

Перфектното четиво за излизане от книжен махмурлук или тежко фентъзи!
Има ли по-сладък от Питър?

I finished this book 3 or 4 days ago and I've been so busy I didn't have the chance to stop for a minute and review it, but here I am now, so let's dive into it!

I found this second book to be even more childish and cliched than the first one, which is saying something considering I referred to TOTBILB as "the apocalypse of cliches".
Let's start from the erasure of the characters that were in the first book. Josh is completely gone and has been substituted by the entrance of John, one of the recipient of Lara Jean's letters. Same thing for Margot, who only appears sporadically and has no real impact to the story. I think it was a really unfair treatment, especially for Josh. I mean, the whole first book is focused on Josh and on how much the whole Song-Covey family is worried that he won't be around as much anymore, and then he basically disappears in the second book and no one cares! That doesn't make any sense. He has a new girlfriend, but he was still Lara Jean's best friend and he was part of their family, and then suddenly he's just gone. I believe the author could have treated his character better.

Let's talk now about Lara Jean and Peter's relationship. I think the author managed to depict the perfect teenage relationship, because it was complete bonkers. They start all lovey-dovey but they soon encounter a few hinders in their trail in the form of John and Genevieve. If it were my boyfriend, constantly messaging with his ex and sneaking out to go to her every time she calls, I would react way worse than Lara Jean did. Peter is so oblivious. And I get that he does that out of good will, and that he is loyal to Gen and that her problems at home are hers to tell, but he also gives Lara Jean zero reasons to trust him. Considering its a pretty new relationship, building trust is essential. And can we also talk about the fact that Peter knew that Gen was behind the video and he said nothing?!? Is he for real?! Lara Jean's got dragged down by everyone at school, teachers included, she got her father disappointed in her because of that video, while he obviously faced no consequences at all, and he didn't tell her that Genevieve was behind that video?!? And he still thinks he is the one in the right. Boy, does he have an ego. I could forgive him for trying to help Gen with he crap she is dealing with at home, but that was just simple betrayal and there is no excuse for that.

All hail for John Ambrose McLaren. You deserve someone who truly loves you, you spectacular one-of-a-kind kid. John comes back into Lara Jean's life out of nowhere and he completely flips it over. Honestly, he gives her everything she wants, all the attention, all the love and he is such a sweetheart. I really don't know how she could still choose Peter over him in the end, and I as definitely rooting for him in the end. At the very least, it would have spiced things up a little bit.

The whole Belleview part really dragged, same as the tag game. I didn't see the point in adding all that, I think she could have just focused more on the dynamics between the characters and developed them more as individuals.
