Many depths and levels to this book; I feel that I didn't take everything in as I was reading it- I wanted to, and I'll probably revisit it- I had to read back a few times after the feeling I had missed something became too strong. Didn't detract from the story/stories, but be aware this book requires focused concentration.

"The Castle of Crossed Destinies" had an interesting concept: a number of travellers tell their stories without speaking. They do this by laying a series of tarot cards on a table. Calvino's narrator interprets the story that the cards tell. It was a very quick read at just over 120 pages.

While this book was unique and an interesting twist on storytelling, I didn't enjoy it as much as I liked the other Calvino books that I've read.

ideia genial. execução me cansou um pouco. como são contos, acho que seria melhor se eu tivesse lido mais espaçado e não tudo de uma vez

I love the premise. Like I really do. It is so Calvino it hurts. I admit I got lost in the work itself. The tarot cards were cool, parts of the book stuck out like gems, others felt like wading through a swamp that you knew could flash to a pristine beach were you a more suitable traveler.

A great book for insight into how the human mind makes and interprets symbols.

It was okay. I appreciate Calvino's obsession with writing stories based on random sets of tarot cards, but I didn't find the stories very interesting or nuanced.
