I wanted just a little bit more connection between the before and the after, and a little bit worldbuilding for the community that's at the center of this story. I do think that you'll want to read a synopsis before (even just the one here on GR), becuase the context of the structure and the story organization will be helpful. Also, don't be like me and gloss over the chapter titles in this one.

This was a book club book, which was likely why I made it all the way through and didn’t give up. I’m still uncertain about how some of the story lines fit together... in some ways I feel like this could have been a collection of dystopian fiction essays. That would have made it cooler.

Half baked and atonal. There is a lot to enjoy despite that.

Interesting ideas but just didn't feel that like that interesting of a story to me.

Found this to be a readable quite plausible end-of-the world scenario set in the UK and NYC.

The premise is a complete takedown of the internet and all smart devices attached to it. I liked the characters, liked the flow of the story, loved how the supernatural element became all-of-a-sudden explainable.

Great read as far as I am concerned.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had shades of some of my favourite sci-fi / alternative authors without ever feeling derivative. It has the political feel of Doctorow and the cool of Jeff Noon. It is a very British book (in the best, coolest way possible), and describes a very believable disconnected future. The characters are rich and believable, the settings (Bristol in the future, and Brooklyn) richly described and populated. I know this will be one that I go back and re-read and savour a few more times.

Wish I could give this a five but it dragged just a little bit too much. Really enjoyed this one; it will only become more relevant
