Had a hard time staying captivated at first. I did like that it is very relevant to today’s social media/influencer lifestyle. By the end it does reel you right in and had an ending I didn’t predict.

Rachel Krall finds herself in the middle of an investigation of a missing media influencer and of a suspected serial killer, not because of her popular podcast, Guilty or Not Guilty, but because she is asked by the FBI to fly to Daytona and interview the suspected serial killer who is due to be released from prison on a simple burglary charge. The cutthroat world of media influencers provides the backdrop for Rachel’s interviewing skills to once again discover facts that the police aren’t privy to. They also set her up as a target! While this is #2 in the Rachel Krall series it can easily be read and enjoyed as standalone. But you will definitely want to go back and read Night Swim if you haven’t done so.

Dark Corners isn't as strong as the first novel in the Rachel Krall series,[b:The Night Swim|51169341|The Night Swim (Rachel Krall, #1)|Megan Goldin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1569898236l/51169341._SY75_.jpg|70932279], but it was still an enjoyable, above average read.
Liked: Rachel Krall continues to be excellent narrator for Goldin's novels. She's intelligent, inticing and flawed.
Disliked: I have a love/hate relationship with the influencers in this story. Also, Rachel being was just infuriating and felt like it was just put in to stretch the novel out more -- we knew she didn't do it and wasn't going to be charged with the crime.
Left me wondering...: How the rideshare driver and Terry were connected until the end of the book! Also left me thinking about how much information we share about ourselves online and in person and how trusting we are.

It was nice to see her character develop more during the novel as she develops feelings (without it becoming a romance novel) and falls prey to the killer's trap)Disliked: I have a love/hate relationship with the influencers in this story. Also, Rachel being

First - the Truman Capote quote at the begin was chef’s kiss 👩🏻🍳 💋 This book isn’t bad at all, but it’s not super thrilling either. This is not action packed and moves along at a sluggish pace. It really highlights and dives into the influencer world , which all thought relevant for our time, is boring if you don’t care about that world. Ultimately, I enjoyed this one more than The Night Swim, but less than her other novels- The Escape Room & Stay Awake. Both of those books kept me on edge and I flew through them!! This one I had trouble keeping Maddison and Rachel separate in my mind. The format of the book made it complicated at first and it was confusing to realize the podcast episodes are scattered within. I did additionally listen to some audiobook chapters and felt like the narrative flowed a little better while listening vs. reading
