Thank you to the author for providing a review copy.
What a fun road trip! The Rules of the Road has a very interesting, very unique concept and so much heart. C.B. Jones does urban legend horror extremely well. I loved riding along on everyone's road trips, learning the rules (and gained a few more reasons to be paranoid on the highway). 4.5 stars

There is literally no way I would have been able to read this without an audiobook. First half of the book, 4 stars. Last half of the book 1 star. I'm giving it 2 because I don't hate it. It was so fun an entertaining at the beginning, drawing me in. Making me giddy about the "superstitions" I already heard of. Was giving me tales from the crypt vibes and I was all for it. Then, the life stories got longer and more tedious and boring. I found myself saying over and over "GET TO THE POINT, MAN!!". The last chapter was literally useless!! Complete and utter snooze-fest and in the end, you don't really have any answers.

Okay the last chapter... fucking skip that shit! It's literally seeing Bucks life story in little increments that I guess makes some of the "Rules". We never do find out why or if it was even real... Or what the hell... definitely no conclusion to this book. It could have been such a good book, it had great potential. It's quite a shame. Malori... signing off.

I was given an arc for The Rules of the Road by C.B. Jonesand I can’t say enough good things about this book. The story reads like an anthology with a framing story. I absolutely loved the writing in this book, the mixture of the paranormal and uncanny with the fleshed out humanity of the characters makes for a mastercrafted narrative. I felt so many emotions with these characters, regardless of how brief their story. 5/5 for the immense enjoyment I had with this experience. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Strap in and enjoy the ride, but don’t forget to follow the rules of the road and stay safe and stay lonely.

Thank you so much to the author for a review copy of this book!
I loved this excellent story collection centered around a mysterious radio broadcast, with wrap around story about the man behind it all.
I was hooked from the beginning as we get to hear firsthand accounts of those who have had an encounter with the strange broadcast. Each person hears a different rule, and the consequences of not obeying could be nonexistent - or life threatening.
It was a fantastic read, one I was eager to come back to every time I had to be away from my kindle. I highly suggest checking it out if you like The Twilight Zone, strange radio programs, or you’d just enjoy a great horror story collection that wraps up beautifully with a look into the secrets behind it all.
Stay safe. Stay lonely.
