I loved this book. It was totally unexpected. It is a great book, it made me laugh, it made me cry. Thank you Shannon Hale.

While I have been not-finishing this series for years, now that I have read them all, I'm sorry the Books of Bayern are done. What amazing characters and friendships are drawn here, and the stories are so well-paced, with continuous, engaging action but restful spaces so the book isn't exhausting. Rinna is maybe my favorite. I loved her story, and the redemption of a gift. I love these books together and the tangled coming-of-age stories that untangle so differently as each of these distinct characters comes into their own. I wish I could keep reading. Or go live in the Forest with the Agget-kin and Gilsa.
