Exactly as I expected it to be.
Less linear memoir, more a collection of anecdotes, ponderings, advice and reflections from one of the greatest living filmmakers today.
Not as serious as you would think, Herzog exhibits a sharp sense of humour and is very much aware of his reputation and is not above playing into it.
The kind of book you can pick up and put down, I found myself waylaud by stopping to watch what he was referencing - both his own works and other peoples.
Oh to have him for a friend would be a marvelous thing! I suspect you would learn as much from being with and experiencing Werner Herzog as you would sitting I'm down and interviewing him.
