FBI agent Jess Harding is called out to assist on a new murder case in the Alaskan wilderness. Jess soon learns why she was needed. The victim dead the same way as a prior serial killer that Jess was pursuing…five years ago. Also the killer has called out Jess. He wrote her name in blood. Now Jess is on a man hunt to finally stop the killer once and for all before she finds herself six feet under in a block of ice.

This book was alright but I was hoping for better. I thought that there were be a lot of high, intensity action but it was mild at best. I read the book but after I was done, it did not stick with me for very long afterwards.

What bummed me the most about the book was that I thought the elements of Alaska was going to play a bigger part in this story then it did. I was picturing someone like Kate Beckinsale’s character had to experience in the movie, Whiteout. I did not really get that from this book. In fact part of the story towards the end moved away from Alaska. A high point was that I did like Jess. She was the right balance of tough and soft.

In Broad Daylight - I won this on Goodreads. This book was about a serial killer located in Alaska, who kills young females that are semi-athletic and more towards the independent side. The main character happens to fit this description and has also been trying to hunt him/her down for years but left the case to return to California. The killings begin again after a 5 year break period, so she comes back to Alaska to find out she is being hunted by the killer. At the latest crime scene she finds evidence pointing toward this; her name written in the latest victims blood. There were parts of this story that seemed to be missing to me? Thoughts seemed to just stop short and then you were brought to the end result to quickly? Or at least it seemed so to me. It was a quick read for me, it was exciting to chase the killer and interesting to hear about the life in Alaskan communities. It was also nice to hear about a female character who was not weak and needed to be saved by anyone else. She was tough, worked hard and was able to wear skirts or pants to do her job. She didn't let anyone walk over her.

Jess Harding is an FBI agent who's been called back to Alaska to continue work on a serial killer case that went cold five years previous.

This books was an incredibly quick read and quite fast-paced. The story was interesting and kept me pretty well engrossed. I had a very hard time connecting with Jess, however. I connected more with Linstrom and Martinez than I did with her even though the story is from Jess's point of view.

Mr. Hardwood did a good job of dropping breadcrumbs about Jess's past to give us peeks about how she ticks and why she is the way she is. I felt like more background development of her character would have helped me to connect with her better.
