Writing: gets the job done. Nice incorporation of lyrics
Plot/characters: great inside view of that time in their lives (Spike & Ice)
Profundity: if it costs you your piece, it’s too expensive.

I’ve watched Ice-T playing Finn Tutuola on SVU for years, but I didn’t much outside of his acting lane and accidental run at being a series regular.
It was interesting to hear his background (did you know he was an only and orphaned child?) and see the experiences and decisions that made him the success we see today.
What was moving about this co-memoir, however, was the juxtaposition of experiences and decisions by his lifelong friend Spike, who was in and out of prison for roughly 30 years, and the relationship they maintained despite handling things differently.
Their lives, written out side by side, highlights the struggle and temptations to stay in a life of crime, but also the meticulous choices Ice-T made to get out.
Century did a great job compiling their stories as narratives that were easy to follow and built off of each other to continue their stories.

What a ride!
Loved this book! So many twists and turns. I could read Ice’s parts with his voice in mind. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

#netgalleyarc This was a good and quick read. I’m a fan of Ice-T as an actor and was interested in finding out more about his life. Reading his story and hiss friends and seeing how they were similar until they weren’t was interesting. I won’t be purchasing this for my high school library but I did enjoy reading it.

Like “The Other Wes Moore” + music. Enjoyable, but nothing special!
