The Author immerses you into a think tank of the extensiveness Artifical Intelligence has to offer in our modern day. The Author cleverly reminds you of the importance of our adaptability to change, and how this shapes our quality of life.
This book has been written with great reflection and research. It truly takes you on a journey, that naturally makes you appreciate that the world we live in has endless potential for the way we live our lives, for the here and now and in the future.
Artifical Intelligence is all around us, it makes decisions on our credibility, our characteristics, our expectations, quality of life and much more!
A very enjoyable read, that has been written extremely well. A real page turner

Power and Prediction is a combined effort of authors Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb. The authors dive into what AI future holds in every aspect of our lives. How will AI change where you work, what you drive, what you eat, your social life, and your medical? They cover many aspects so you can be prepared. I found they did not sugarcoat their predictions. You understand the possibilities of mistakes and miscalculations of the programmers.

I found Power and Prediction informative yet practical. The authors wrote at a level everyone could understand, but experts in this area may find it too simple for their liking. This book is a spin-off of their previous bestseller, Prediction Machines. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to prepare themselves for what the future could hold in AI and what direction their business could be taking.

This book, and other books written by these authors on AI and its economic impact, are essential if you’re interested in the field. Even in the preface, they prove they are the experts as they list off other big businesses and organizations that consider them the authority on the topic. The amount of study, effort, and thought that has gone into compiling this catapults it above most books about AI and business integration of AI.

In examples they provide, such as in the opening chapter, The Between Times, they easily draw parallels to the content. This is great, so even the casual person interested in the topic can read with little effort. The writing doesn’t distance itself from the layperson as you might expect. The most significant benefit is for small and large entrepreneurs and how AI can ultimately benefit them. This is a book to check out if you’re even remotely interested in AI and how it’s shaping our interactions in business.

This has been a fascinating book about artificial intelligence (AI) and how it has impacted our lives and how it could change things in the years to come. Three economists, Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb, wrote this book to help others learn just how much of a game changer AI will be. The authors compare AI’s impact and potential changes to electricity, calling it “the new electricity.” AI has the potential to transform every industry and create huge economic benefits. The way things are done changes with AI which in turn shifts power. This book is full of examples and practical advice to help companies and people learn how to incorporate AI into their lives and work. The authors explain the relationship between AI and power and prediction. A very informative book!

Being an Information Analyst, this book couldn't have been more relevant. Artificial intelligence has become an integral component of my day job, and the information served in "Power and Prediction" further illustrates how AI is here to stay.

The authors let it be known that the goal of this book is to stimulate motivation into developing AI system solution. One point I found particularly intriguing was the fact that despite the recent influx of AI employment, be it within Silicon Valley or beyond, AI is still in its infant stages. Personally, the juxtaposition between the speed of talk regarding AI and the actual maturity of the technology triggers something to ponder. As an employee, I've got to wonder how this shift will affect me.

For business readers, I reckon this book will not only be valuable but it will also be entertaining. It starts off with background information on the evolution of energy - think steam and electricity. The content structure then progresses into core topics - the use of AI in prediction to empower decision-making.

Power and Prediction is an interesting read that delves into the wide-ranging applications of Artificial Intelligence, including predicting marketing trends, designing airports, managing healthcare issues, and a lot more. Author Agrawal provides an assortment of compelling examples that lucidly explain complex concepts, making it easy for readers to comprehend the subject matter. Without any prior knowledge myself I thought this type of thing would be way over my head, but I was impressed by how simplified it was made so even a layman like myself could understand. Moreover, Agrawal cautions against the unbridled use of AI without human intervention and judgment, raising pertinent issues that need to be addressed before it can be deployed on a large scale. The book highlights the immense potential of AI to revolutionize our lives, while also emphasizing the need for judicious use and regulation of this powerful technology. Overall, this book offers a thought-provoking exploration of AI, providing valuable insights into this burgeoning field.

This is a good book to understand the power of AI and its predictions better. As taken from the book, the following are some of the key issues discussed:

AI prediction is already having a system change effect on the innovation process. This gives a glimpse into what changes may be required elsewhere. Disruption as a process involves a redistribution of economic power—that is, under the new system, those who create the most economic value will change.
AI is all about prediction and is input into decision-making, power comes not from
machines—even though they might look powerful—but from those behind the machines, guiding how they react to predictions, what we call judgment.

When prediction involves a change from a rule to a decision and then to a new system, new people have a role in decision-making and therefore become the new locus of power. The reason is that predictions are a key input into decision-making.

It is also interesting to read about the discriminative nature of AI. AI is susceptible to bias is something to worry about I guess. as it adopts the data keyed in by humans. However, the good news is that AI can also reduce discrimination.

Definitely a must-read for those wanting to learn more about AIs. I know I had a better understanding of the subject matter after reading this book.

A very eye-opening topic for me, to be honest I'm not that well informed about AI, but this book sure gave me the perfect context to understand the impact AI is having and will have long term in society and economics. We are truly evolving in every way and this sure gives us more tools to give our children and future generations all the knowledge they need, because we are at full speed exploiting technology.
