My first "real" book; something that got me into reading. I found the second book more dynamic (according to my old messages) but still every book has my heart

this book should've been not a book but an article in a newspaper or smth, would've been much better and more entertaining. the story is cute but not for a book, boring af

5 stars because despite the writing, it made me smile, it made my cry, it made me feel lots of things and it made me fall for both bob and james.

a simple tale of a cat that saves a man...or should that be the other way around? A feel-good story that is a swift read

I checked this book from the library a few days after my cat passed away. My biggest impressions were James' patience and love for this cat, Bob's incredible intelligence, and a story about regret, loyalty, responsibility, hope, and the best and worst of humanity. It reads simple and honest, just a person making his way the best he knows how when he's interrupted and propelled forward by a cat that wouldn't leave.

You know what’s missing from this gem? PICTURES! PICTURES OF BOB, TO BE PRECISE. I’m not complaining or anything, but come one, after looking at how handsome he is on the cover, don’t you just wished you would have more pictures of Bob as you read on his journey? I mean, I sure do. Regardless, I still love this book nonetheless.

I saw some people’s review about this book, they said that this book was choppy and repetitive, not to mention that it’s badly edited. Well, you know what? I don’t fucking care. I think this book was very honest, without even trying to sound all inspirational or preaching about second chance and the whatnots. Come on, the writer is a recovering heroin addict who is getting a second chance in life to be integrated into society after being ‘dehumanized’ just because he is homeless; of course he is no Shakespeare. But like I mention before, that fact about him and the fact that this book was choppy or repetitive, it shows how honest his was about telling his fair share of story.

Of course, one of the main point of this book is about how he felt he was given a second chance by meeting Bob, and in a way he wants to share what it’s like being homeless to raise people’s awareness about it, but never once had I feel that he was blabbering and sounded like he was a know-it-all in terms of second chance or being homeless. He never even sounded like he was pitying himself; if anything he was just being this simply crazy cat guy obsessing about his super intelligent cat, and I like him for that.

True, that the book was choppy, but as I have been mentioning from the beginning, I loved it anyway. I think maybe the choppiness (if that is a word, I checked, that’s a valid word) is one of the reason why I loved this book so much. I can’t imagine any other way that this book is supposed to listen, it was already perfect.

I would obviously recommend this to those who is a crazy cat person, but to anyone who loves inspirational stories that doesn’t sound condescending or anything. This was a perfect book and I’m thinking to read more about Bob, and this time I expect to find more of Bob’s pictures in the book. Amen!
