4 stars - It was really good

House Luanda is preparing for another change, the arrival of a new baby. Lisa is almost ready to give birth to her new daughter but Grim is struggling with his fear that things will go wrong. Grim also finds a new threat against thrones.

This was a great addition to this series. We have been eagerly waiting for the new baby for a while now and she is finally here. I enjoyed seeing Grim lose his mind over Lisa and being super protective. It was also great seeing this big old warrior being adorable with his newborn daughter. This book just made me love Grim even more.

Aside from the pregnancy and birth, we also meet a new doctor from earth. I really liked her and her direct attitude. I really can’t wait to learn more about her, and hopefully see her fall in love. We also learned some very upsetting news about another earth woman and I just wanted to hug her.

The new threat was interesting because of how it affects so many things for the Tornians. Unfortunately, this threat is not resolved in this book. This book ends abruptly so this threat isn’t resolved. It was just a bit jarring. It felt almost like she had only written half a book and decided to just release it before the full story was finished.

While this does have an abrupt and cliffhanger ending, I did enjoy it and look forward to the next book. Grim and Lisa are still my favorite couple in this series and I will never complain about more books focusing on them.

Trigger Warnings: discussions of abortion, fear of developmental problems during pregnancy, fear of death from pregnancy, mention of bullying, discussion of verbal abuse by partner,  discussion of infertility,
