“In war, you do not exercise the right of private judgment. That is what is so dangerous. Once a man is imbued with the idea that he knows who ought to be allowed to live and who ought not - then he is halfway becoming the most dangerous killer there is - the arrogant criminal who kills not for profit but for an idea.” He cooked.

The twists at the end saved this book for me, otherwise I found it a struggle to get through (definitely other Hercule Poirot mysteries I would recommend before this one).

It's incredible how nonchalantly.. flippantly.. AGGRESSIVELY sexist Ms Christie's writing is. She seems to never miss an opportunity. Hard to enjoy the reading when you're getting banged over the head so often. Good mystery as ever, otherwise.
