Fast-paces and quick read the if anything seemed a bit brief in spots. This also reads like a great survival handbook with general survival principles at play as the characters react to an earthquake and tsunami. This packed in some heart too with certain relationships. Highly recommended summer read, and a nice OBOB selection that will generate a ton of questions despite the shorter length.

This was my son's summer reading book upon entering 5th grade. I have mixed opinions. As a 40 year old woman with a degree in literature--meh. As a typical 5th grade boy--cool! As an atypical 5th grade boy with anxiety (my kid)--AHHH!! What are you trying to do to me woman?!?! We'll see what he thinks.

I'm not a survival/adventure reader, but a co-teacher is using this in a book group. Definitely had me turning the pages!

My fifth grader came home the other day raving about this book he just read and said I “had” to read it too. So I did. :) It was very good and I’m so glad I took the time to read (listen) to it!!

Students have loved this one. I read it on a whim to my students. It was interesting, but I didn't see the draw.
