I loved The Poppy and the Rose. I loved the mystery, being told in 2 voices, the creepy old house, mysterious old lady, long lost family ,journal, and the historical aspect. This book reads quickly, and I wanted to keep reading.

A tear jerking titanic world war multi timeline mystery historic fiction. I listened to a libro.fm audio book and I did cry a few times I admit!
The Poppy and the Rose had a interesting premise - Dual timeline. Titanic story. Mysteries deaths. However, the execution just wasn't what I wanted it to be. The writing was OK, but at times it felt forced and overwritten. I liked the idea of the story, as I'm always a sucker for a Titanic story, but I just didn't connect with this one. At times the plot was confusing and didn't have a great flow. The elements of magical realism were interesting and I wish she would have explored those more. I do think some of these issues could have been worked out in the editing process. So, overall, this was a fine story that was entertaining, but it just lacked some elements to really make it a great read.
Very interesting plot, but the spooky prescient feelings of the narrators creeped me out a little too well. Picked this book up because of that gorgeous cover. I wasn't able to properly appreciate the alternate timelines and contemplation of the non-linear nature of time, but perhaps other readers will. The romantic arcs, while subtle, added a nice touch. Dalia amazed me - what girl voluntarily wears a saree on an hours-long journey to a different continent? While most of the historical fiction I've read has been Regency-era romance, after reading books like this and [b:The Jewel Thief|49485776|The Jewel Thief|Jeannie Mobley|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1571077557l/49485776._SY75_.jpg|73161170] I'm starting to gain a greater appreciation for the historical aspect of the stories and how much effort the authors put into their research in order to give it a feeling of authenticity. The poem Four Quartets, which the author themselves says has left its mark throughout the story, is a perfect companion to the book.
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I read the synopsis of this book and didn't hesitate to select the "read now" option on NetGalley. I was hooked from the beginning. I loved that this story was written in two timelines. I loved that it was written around the Titanic. About halfway through though my interest started wavering and I was able to predict a few things. I wish there would have been more character development. This book had potential but fell flat.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Poppy and the Rose! On paper, this book was actually written for me - YA, stories of The Titanic, mystery, and time travel elements. Can we also talk about this amazing cover?!?
I really enjoyed reading the two perspectives - one of Taylor, studying in England in 2010 and one of Ava, who was on board the Titanic. It kept me guessing the entire time how they were connected and I really enjoyed the Titanic elements!
Where I thought this booked lacked was how much was packed into the book. I felt at times I had to write notes to keep track of the characters and intertwined timelines. Other than that, I rate this as a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5! I highly recommend for those who enjoy classic mystery tropes and stories about the Titanic.

Disclaimer: This is an arc I received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own! Taylor is the protagonist and she is in London for an exchange program. It is split between modern-day Ava and Taylor to how their stories are parallel to each other. Except Ava ends up being a spy. It's an interesting dynamic and fans of Titanic or Downtown Abbey will love this!
i don't get the title but the content was surprising good
