this book has given me mixed feelings. (i have the extended edition) Lots of the essays (or gassays as i called them, short for gay essays) involved lots about God which i feel is a polarising topic in the queer community and found those passages difficult to read and stay interested in. It was an okay mix of representation, mainly trans, nonbinary / gay and a bit of aroace but i felt lots of the stories came from people with v similar experiences so the stories could get competitive and added to the limitations of diversity in The Full Spectrum - i.e. it’s not very full. i also believe there was some transphobic language used in a few of the stories from cisgender perspectives and this made me uncomfortable. that being said, some of the stories did make me emotional and made me even more grateful for the amazing and supportive community that surrounds me. My favourite story was probably A Gay Grammar by Gabe Bloomfield or The Most Important Letter of Our Life by Joselle Vanderhooft.
