Sometimes a lil cringe and indulgent but I guess that’s sorta the whole point. Still fun to read and I liked the recipes woven through out.

I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of someone’s life but through the story of food & recipes. I obviously knew who Stanley Tucci was prior to reading this but the insight to his personal life was welcome. As someone who is from Westchester, knowing he calls it a wedge makes my heart happy. All of the recipes in this book sound amazing and I’d love to try them.

I started this book on audiobook (highly recommend, Tucci's voice is incredible), but went out and bought it about halfway through.

Putting aside my all-consuming love for Stanley Tucci, the actor, this book was a wonderful read. You really get a sense of his passion for food and cooking and the way it connects us to other people. He shares some small industry tidbits and subtle name drops that are hiLARIOUS and I loved them. But it's very clear that food has taken over as his true passion. Even the interspersed food and drink recipes made me laugh. The last few chapters were especially poignant (I won't spoil anything but it was an interesting shift in tone that I thought was handled very well) and gave me an insight to an aspect of his life which was a complete surprise to me and I finished the book with a much greater appreciation for Italian food.

My only criticism with this book is that it left me hungry 98% of the time I was listening and while I will probably attempt some of the recipes, I doubt I will be able to get the full Tucci experience.

I’ve had this book on my list for a while and decided it was a great pick for Nonfiction November. I love when a celebrity narrates his own memoir and does it well. Stanley Tucci’s descriptions of his food memories, stories, and recipes were wonderful. I listened to this one, so I’ve got to find all the recipes he read! Be prepared to want to eat all the pasta!
