Abby Normal' centers around Abigail Henderson, a girl destined to see into the paranormal and be the target of demons. The attacks of the demons were written with plenty of unique descriptions and individual characterization. Deacon was a horrifying entity. The graphic scenes of his attacks were memorable and I could visualize these scenes well even though they were something so out of the ordinary.

Abby and her allies- her girlfriend Leanne, her mother Karen, friends Natalie and Mr. Lockhart- had many exciting scenes fighting against the evil entities. The author used unique and engaging descriptions in the fight scenes which kept me on pins and needles! For example, "The shadows shaped themselves into a large, clawed hand, and the fingers flexed and pawed the air eagerly." That was the demon Varr'rak, the 'shadow walker.'

Besides Abby, my favorite supporting character is Karen, who has some great one-liners as the protective mom who gives Varr'rak a beating. This book doesn't take itself seriously. I had quite a few laugh-out-loud moments with the snappy dialogue, as the characters battled demons who kept coming back with a creepy vengeance. The style of dark humor combined with the descriptive horror-movie scenes and great characters made for a fun read!
