My first Jill Ciment book read at  the suggestion of Ann Patchett’s  “if you haven’t read this book it’s new to you” video series on IG @parnassusbooks.

Short. Interesting. Vivid and exceedingly apt descriptions of people, places, things, and feelings. Set in NYC.

I felt like this was not a book I wanted to decide my own conclusions on. The whole book is about these major decisions that as a reader I am supposed to me highly invested in, so not showing the final outcome left the story feeling just ridiculously unfinished. I could figure out the background "terrorist" event much easier than the personal inner conflicts. I ended up feeling like I'd just gone through the motions of reading without actually getting anything to take away from it. At least it was under 200 pages, I suppose.
