something old, something new by beverly jenkins
People in a southern town, their life, what worries they have and how others help.
A wedding where they don't want traditional so a suit rather than a wedding dress,
and different flavored cakes vs a tier cake.
Combining two families to live under one roof without a lot of change for the kids.
A company is buying up rights to land to put their gas pipes in and it's not all on the up and up.

*I am a first reads winner.

I gave this book three stars because I really do not have an opinion if I liked it or now. Apparently, this is the third book and I never read the first two which could definitely be a reason why. I did however, like how it overcame obstacles with Devon.

This book had many themes to it, but it just wasn't my favorite.

And I'm in love with this small Black town and it's charming residents.
If it was real I'd move there🥰

Book #43 of 2023. Something Old, Something New by Beverly Jenkins.

Lily and Trent are finally getting married!  Unfortunately, Lily’s 9-year-old foster son wants to perform the wedding ceremony and does not seem to understand why no one sees him as a preacher…

Meanwhile, Reverend Paula Grant is being forced to close her church in Miami. Her church served as many homeless as they could and was being closed to make way for a more commercial development.  She relocates to Henry Adams to serve there.

This was a solid story with a some very heart-warming revelations.

As in the previous two books, I love the characters. These are very creative individuals that love and care about each other. Everyone has their problems and the work as a group to support and help each other. The story line kept me on the edge of my seat and in the end I feel good about the endings. Looking forward to the next book.

I love this book! This is becoming one of my favorite series. We're back in Henry Adams and there's going to be a wedding. Devon is having a hard time adjusting to his new life. Zoey has a surprise visit. Zamar is learning more about his July roots. I love all the history in this series especially in this book. I love the way the community brings the past and present together. I love the way everyone in town participates in raising the kids. I can't wait to see what happens next.
