I knew nothing about the author before but the book sounded interesting and I’ve been looking forward to its release. I listened to the audiobook which was narrated well, the author being equally funny and relatable in quite a few parts of the book. But I felt that it lacked a cohesiveness to hold the book together, full of many disjointed anecdotes which didn’t always feel complete, and just very long chapters at times which could quickly get boring.

While I’m sure readers who share a much more closer personal experience to that of the author will really enjoy this book, it just wasn’t for me. Maybe I had different kinds of expectations going into it which left me feeling disappointed.

Very fun read that also makes you think. Great book club pick! Theme sometimes seemed forced. Make the Katharine Hepburn brownies!
