I read this for my English class so I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but I really enjoyed it. It is an interesting style of writing but I loved it. The way that Tim O’Brien shares his experiences through storytelling paints such a vivid picture and really allows you to feel.

A book about the horrors of the vietnam war. It's very reflective and beautifully written.

I know cruelty was a part of the Vietnam war, but one particular chapter featured extremely unwarranted violence against an innocent, and it was very hard to read. It got its point across though, absolutely.

I really liked this book even though it was for school. I really liked how each chapter or every few felt like a mini vignette. There was a new story every time, not linear, which felt very realistic to the war memories it recreated. It was very emotional and reflective and I really liked how we saw the good but also the negative aspects of war and everyone’s character because that is the reality of humanity.

this book was amazing. Best book I've read for school by far. The only think I didn't like was that the 'things they carried' motif kind of stopped halfway through the book and he started going into a whole different topic for the rest of the book. But other than that I thought the writing was amazing. The amount of thought Tim O'brien put into this book was unreal, and I loved how he incorporated his writing process into the book. The stories were crazy and unexpected it was so fun to read. I highly recommend reading this book if you want something fun, but also beautifully written.
