If you want to learn about the environmental justice movement in the US as it relates to human waste and sewage problems, this may not be the book for you. If you want to learn about activism, social and environmental justice, and perseverance in a racist capitalistic society, you will enjoy this. Her memoir is inspiring and impressive.

Only critique would be that it could have gone into a bit more detail about climate change. I'd have liked to see more explanation about how climate change will impact the ongoing sanitation problem in the US, rather than having to put that together in my head. Would also have liked the final chapter to have informed people of how vast the change will need to be to avoid climate change - either we completely and radically alter our lives for a better future, or our lives are radically altered for us by climate disaster of an apocalyptic scale. I feel like this sentiment is often missing from such environmental books.
