A sweet easy read. The class really enjoyed the characters in this book and are detailed very well, particularly for a younger audience.

1.5 rounding up to 2.

Low rating because its a childhood class book that I wanted to revisit... but found the predictable repetitive parts to be boring and skippable.

But the book tackles some serious issues like bullying, friendship, regret (rounding up)

When I was a kid this was my favourite book, a brilliant tale of the geeky underdog who triumphs over the school bully.

Of course the addition of a giant crocodile stalking the streets after dark added an extra dimension...the chapter where Ruskin enters the sewers to find the beast sent shivers down my spine

A reread with the children - love this book - especially good for reading aloud.
