Marginal purchase--might be useful for explorers unit; for fans of Geronimo Stilton.

I’m sure this would appeal to some children who are not interested in reading about history, but mice cast as famous people from history is not high on my list of favorites.

Read aloud to Emma and Will in two sittings. This graphic novel wasn't high literature, but it fit perfectly with our study of Columbus. It's silly, but filled with little historical tidbits along the way. I'll be looking for more of these to read aloud.

Ridiculous book. Geronimo and friends travel back in time to stop the Pirate Cats from going back in time and changing history.

This story focuses on Christopher Columbus' 1492 voyage. Aside from the fact that I think there are plenty of people who WOULD like to change that bit of history, this story makes the whole voyage look really easy (other than the pirate cats' plots to cause mutiny, of course). And when they get to the Bahamas, they and the natives throw a dance party on the beach! Yeah right.

My 7 year old was stumped on how the cats and the rats/mice were all the same size. And he announced it wasn't as good as the G.S. chapter books.
