Unless you think you’ll enjoy reading/listening to retellings of Clone Wars episodes then I would not recommend this book. The final story, Bug, was good but hardly made up for the rest of the book.

It kills me, but I feel like I can't give it any higher than 3. Like the stories were good, but I'm disappointed that they were literally just arcs of The Clone Wars. If I wanted the same stories, I could just re-watch them (which I do anyway.) This is just a novelization, and maybe I'd feel differently if I knew that going in, but I'm just disappointed.

I read this mostly to read Kenobi’s Shadow (which hurt my feelings—as expected) the rest is pretty much retelling of clone wars episodes/arcs. Bug at the end is a nice short story too.

Sadly I found most of the stories mediocre at best. Felt like someone was (badly) describing an episode of the clone wars to me 😬 "Obi-Wan's shadows" wasn't half bad, at least it made me feel something, but it still didn't add much to the story. I'm glad they decided to include "Bug", I was very proud of myself for figuring out it was most likely Morgan Elsbeth's "origin story". Somehow reading through the whole thing paid of at least.

"And just because something good has darkness in it doesn't mean you abandon it. Just because there is darkness in something does not mean you do not love it. You show it love, you show it light, and you not it chooses the light" - Padmè, Pg 123-124

I've never seen The Clone Wars so these stories were completely new to me. The Padmé-centric "Pursuit of Peace", the Maul-Kenobi conflicts in "Dark Vengeance" and "Kenobi's Shadow" and the very interesting "Bug" were my favourites. "The Shadow of Umbara" on the other hand felt very much like a script, with no added depth, and while Asajj Ventress is now one of my favourite SW characters, her story "The Lost Nightsister" was badly written with some inconsistencies.
All in all, though, it was a fun read and I enjoyed the differing points of view, events and characters.
