I don’t know why I haven’t picked up a book by this author sooner. Her stories are magical, quirky, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and peppered with history. She writes as though she writes to you only, and I can’t wait to pick up another.

I love to read short story collections during the holidays, so I figured I’d pick this one up. I’m a fan of Winterson and specifically, her debut novel. This book of Christmas stories was fun with very diverse plots in all of the stories told. I enjoyed the majority of them. Although, I must say, the holiday greetings from the author at the end was my favorite part. After all, my favorite of Jeanette’s stories are the ones that most closely mirror her life. I love her honesty more than her fiction.

Twelve seasonal stories, each followed by a recipe, just right to get you in the festive spirit even if you are as bah humbug as I am.
Most of the stories are excellent with only a couple of exceptions. The last even made me well up

What a fun collection! An excellent variety of Christmas inspired stories to get you through the winter season. I read it in January and have no regrets but November-December would probably be even more ideal. My favourite story was SnowMama and that one will stay with me for a long time. Kids' imagination is wild!

This book is a deliciously dark and magical collection of 12 Christmas short stories. As a bonus, it also includes 12 recipes that read like short stories themselves. I'm not always a big fan of short stories because they don't seem to end properly for me. Not so with these. I loved every single one of these. I haven't enjoyed such a creepy Christmas experience since The Nightmare Before Christmas movie.

A very fine collection of stories set around Christmas time, with a touch of magic. I loved how they all embodied the true Christmas spirit, the importance of love and kindness while not shying away from the difficulty this time of year can bring.

Interspersed with 12 recipes with Jeanette's dry commentary made for perfect comic relief.
