Mick Oberon is a gumshoe in 1930s Chicago. Little do the humans know the Fae live in their own version of Chicago, just a few short blocks from reality, but Mick, who packs a wand and a rapier, has moved into the human world to get away from the Seelie Court. Now, he is on the trail of the Spear of Lugh, one of the four great relics from the era when the Fae ruled the world and humans and iron were just a passing thought. The Spear has come to Chicago, or has it? Both the Seelie and the Unseelie Court have sent contingents into the human world to search for it and Mick has his hands full trying to uncover the Spear before either court can lay claim to it. Not to mention, Herne the Hunter or Sealgaire of The Wild Hunt. But, as always with the Fae, machinations inside wheels inside contrivances make life really difficult. Why is the Spear so difficult to find? And who is behind the sudden rash of bad luck claiming the lives of Chicago politicians and gangsters? Looking forward to reading the fourth in this series, due out later this spring. Entertaining reading.

A roman noir urban fantasy with a wisecracking, hard boiled PI. While it's been done many times before, I still enjoy them.
