I went into this book with high hopes but low expectations. It is a Secret Wars book and those have not proven to be good. And of late Marvel seems to have trouble writing Peter Parker - they make him a coward or not able to focus or so into telling jokes for no particular purpose. And there's the crap they pulled at end of Civil War to end his relationship with MJ.

But instead, this. Good writing, interesting situations and use of characters. And sure an alternative world but at least one in which I could pretend will mean something to the Marvel Universe. And a harder Peter Parker but one that's still him. And the Powers clan - though it seems like they should be older. And MJ being MJ.

A lot to like in this one even if it is almost certainly pointless.

When people argue that Peter Parker should stay a kid and always have the status quo of POOR, SUFFERING, & UNLUCKY IN LOVE, tell em to read Renew Your Vows.
Truly an amazing thing to have bigtime INCREDIBLES energy with the webslinger and his family.
There's a lot of things Doom did wrong in reforming the world into an amalgamation of clashing times, AUs, themes, and other nonsense, but we can't blame him for this.

One of the fun side-reads in the Secret Wars series, and at least we get a lot of our favorite Spidey characters, including the Sinister Six!

Continuing my occasional attempt to understand Battleworld. Spider-Man has a family. This family matters so much to him he kills and walks away from opportunities to help people. He even sits out a battle wherein the Avengers die. Hurmph.

I guessed wrong the vow to be renewed.
