Chomsky is great to read: his writing is very clear and passionate. Unfortunately, since this book is a collection of previously published newspaper articles, there are no references. Sometimes I wondered if he was being overly dramatic about some political issue or event — but every time I checked something out, it seemed to me that he was right about what happened. (Of course, that could be my own confirmation bias talking.) If even half of what he says is true, this is a depressing read.

A collection of essays that he has written over the last few years. Having recently read 'Who Rules the World' I found there was quite a lot of overlap, I find his writing style to lend itself for an easy read and the advantage of having essays meant I could pick it up and read a few essays whenever I felt inclined.

Essays from lectures and articles on US policy, US corporations and their influence on international politics. These are rarely heard views on US foreign policy indeed, and make sense of a lot of issues (like the ways states violations of human rights and states war crimes are treated so entirely differently depending on which state is involved) that do not make sense to me on the news.

I strongly advise everyone to read at least one book by Noam Chomsky written in the last 15 years. It's an eye opener, to say the least. By the end of just one essay all you'll be asking yourself is: "how did we let it get to this?" "How is this not worldwide knowledge?" And, more importantly, "what can we do to change it?" Perhaps not a lot, but at least not knowingly allowing the upper international and political classes to throw sand in our eyes is a good first step.

More a collection of disparate essays, which makes this a slow and sometimes frustrating read. Still, Chomsky's thoughts are too important to ignore. A must read for an alternative and elucidating look at today's most important socio-political issues.

Great way to introduce relationship between U.S. and Israel and it's impact on the Middle East.
