Y’all. This novella is. So. Good!! The story really draws you into its world. I also felt that these characters were really strong, and I really empathized with them and how they struggled in different ways with losing their daughter. But the descriptions of Paris were so good. I felt like I was walking through the streets with Jon and Estelle while I was reading. It definitely makes me want to visit one day!

It’s such a quick yet impactful read, and I really loved the ending. Most of his books are very dark, gritty, southern noir so I’m really glad that this ended the way that it did! This is definitely one that I’m going to re-read again in the future!

This was is the first work of his that he had published, and it’s so cool to see where his writing style started to where it is now with his newest book, Nick.

I’m a big fan of Michael Farris Smith and now I have finally read all of his books!
