I liked Patrick and Dawn. I liked that Patrick didn't run at the first opportunity. Until he did. I understood the hopelessness Dawn seemed to feel. It was like no matter what she did or said, she couldn't win. I expected her to bail on the relationship long before their first fight.

I liked Kora and Tariq as well, but I remembered them from their own book. Now being honest, I couldn't get into Pat's homegirl, Tan. How do you want your friend to date your homegirl so bad you just get ignorant about it?

I was surprised that Dawn never went to counseling. I also wasn't sure if the problems Dawn was having on stage had to do with her co-star and his girl, her issue with expressing grief, the director, or a combination of the above.

I didn't understand the situation with helping out the waitress. I understood the reason behind Pat doing it, but I didn't understand the purpose of being in the book. Even when it came down to trying to help someone toward redemption, we didn't get to see any part other than the promise, so it felt a bit pointless to me.

As with any book, there were things I liked, and things that didn't feel fully explained to me, but it was a good listen. Two of my favs narrated, and listening to them us always a win in my book.

I was glad Pat and Dawn got their HEA. I wish we could have seen more of it. I am glad the drama was low key. I would definitely recommend a read or listen starting with the first book in the series, Inevitable Conclusions.

Act on your impulses, honey 🤸🏾‍♂️💃🏾

Dawn’s willingness to throw caution to the wind is what drew me into this story. Sometimes we need a little bump and grind to get our mind right! She gave me life with how she pressed up on Patrick!! I love how they were two individuals struggling with what life threw at them, yet were able to find joy from a random connection.

I thought that this was a cute story and I enjoyed it. It was definitely short but I know it’s a novella. Dawn was definitely more than what people thought. I loved Patrick for her. He was a everyday hard working guy who genuinely likes her for who she was. Very good combination. Loved it.

The information on grief was very good and, as always, CCJ has a serious yet relatable experiences that her characters have. That is one thing I love about her writing. I look forward to the topics that plague the characters. Loved it.
