I am not a massive fan of time travel but the reviews on this were too good to miss up. It fell short of expectations and I feel that this is like every other BDSM book out there with the predictable storyline. I didn't connect with the characters and I think the story fell flat.

Listen - I fell hard for Jeff in the last book, The Enticement! He is just a smooth as silk character that is loyal but dark and mysterious at the same time.

The story between he and Dena was lovely and it was very clear (as in all the books in the series) they were going to come together but not without conflict first. The collaring ceremony made me tear up.

I loved this book. I loved seeing Abby and Nathaniel again. I love how Jeff runs into Dena and can't keep his eyes off her. I love how they begin to see each other at the club and how they are trying to make it work. I like how Jeff is so determined to keep Dena safe from whoever is trying to harm her. I like that they begin to work things out and are finally able to form a relationship. I loved how Dena finally told Jeff what had happened with the baby and how they worked through it together. This book was amazing and I loved it. 10 stars.

The Collar is the fifth book in the Submissive series by Tara Sue Me.  This book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.

Dena Jenkins is a successful lawyer, who seems tired and unhappy as to how her life is going.  Her life is just coasting along and she seems unable to want to move forward when her life was perfect not too long ago.  That is until something tragic happened to drive her away from the one man she loves.

Jeff is a Dom and is head over heels in love with Dena.  The problem is their past drove them away from each other and he is not sure they can fix it.  So he is trying to move on with his life, even to the point that moving across the country seems like a good idea.  I liked how Jeff is not all he seems and has so many layers to him that is hard to see right at first.  I loved that when Dena is threatened nothing is going to stop him from protecting her.

The connection between Jeff and Dena is intense.  You can feel the heat between them.  Their biggest issue that drove them apart was their lack of communications but considering the circumstances it was not unexpected. I liked that despite their background they still loved each other.  The sex scenes were scorching.

I found this book well written with an interesting plot. I enjoyed how the author handled the flashbacks.  While I am not a fan of them, I did not get lost like normally do.  The main characters and the secondary characters were spellbinding. The only part I was not fond of was who was threatening Dena and how that part of the story unraveled.  It came across as anticlimactic.  While a HEA ending was expected, I loved that I was kept guessing right to the end on how it would turn out. Overall, this was a very captivating book.  I can’t wait to read the next story in the series, and find out what is happening next with Abby and Nathaniel. This book was reviewed by a member of the review staff at Cocktails and Books. After falling in love with Abby and Nathaniel's journey, I really wanted to give this one a try (and having it involve them so much really helped). It was kind of fun exploring Dena and Jeff's dynamic and past. Traveling back and forth through time was the right way to tell their story. It's not as steamy as the others in the Submissive series, but romance journey makes up for it.

this is my review for The Submissive:
I was recommended this series, and again made the decision to read at least the first one to give it a try. Very quickly I needed more. If you're looking for the perfect D/S relationship book, THIS is the one to dive into! Toss your Fifty Shades and Replace it with Submissive. It's got the D/S hook, it's smutty, it's cheesy, it's instalove, it's complicated, it's fun. When you want to read a D/S book because you're interested in how things could be in the community or because you're in the community, this is the way to go. It has an equal amount of instalove, D/S, and romance. A sweet balance of sweet and spicy. But if you're going to start this one, be prepared to read more of the series.

this is my review for The Dominant:
As a second book in a series rarely does, The Dominant keeps up with The Submissive. Which is surprising, since they're essentially the same story. And although I liked being in Abigail's thoughts, I enjoyed being in Nathaniel's head space even more.

this is my review for The Training:
This one was just as fun to read as the first two in the trilogy. We're comfortable to Abby and Nathaniel. It's sensual, yet there's something pure about it. It explores their trust and the relationship they've managed to build together through trials and tribulations. It's the beautiful, romantic side in a D/S relationship. Something that books rarely explore.

this is my review for The Chalet:
This is a sweet extra for the Submissive series. Definitely written with fans in mind. It doesn't lack steam, but I love how it was really about them as a couple, exploring their dynamic becoming newlyweds.

this is my review for The Enticement:
I started the Submissive journey with the idea it was only a trilogy. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered this one! And surprised I was reading it! It focuses on Abby outside of the bedroom, who she is and who she has become focusing on Nathaniel's needs. But don't worry, it's still steamy! Their dynamic shifts with this one, and it's exciting to watch Abby not only becoming even stronger as a person, but their relationship become stronger as well.

this shows the complexity of a relationship that has many different facets and at times needs to be altered to fit what needs to be done. Living and loving are two things that everyone needs and sometimes people need more to be fufilled and can find it in that one person who is so right for them.

Audible

Reread. Dena & Jeff are longtime members of their club. They have a sad backstory & are no longer together. In this novel, they get their second chance.

The narration was well done.

Thanks to the author for a copy to read and review.

This is a book about second chances. Dena and Jeff have been a Dom/sub couple for years until a tragedy breaks them apart plus other mitigating circumstances. They have chemistry, but also loads of emotional baggage between them. There other Dom/sub friends cast them together again because Jeff is thinking of leaving town. You could tell these two belong together but it took some drama and a stalker to get them together again. Sometimes you just have to be in the right mood for a book and I'm pretty sure that's why I failed to connect with this book. Loved the theme, but the plot slowed me down a lot. Overall entertainment is three and a half stars!

I liked their relationship, not as much as I liked Nathaniel and Abby, but Dena and Jeff were good together. I liked that there was a sense of suspense, but the revelations was just ok. I enjoyed the end, though I do wish there was a baby involved. I understand why though. I will be continuing the story.
