Wonderfully written, captivating story and characters, and heart racing action. I was absolutely riveted from the very first page. Nicola's tale starts out simply enough with a trip to find her wayward step-sister, but quickly turns into a non-stop race filled with demons, the Norse pantheon, a deadbeat ex, and a persistent detective. This is my first read by Buhrman, but it certainly won't be my last!

This book was very interesting. I enjoyed it very much. It really appealed to me with the Norse mythology in it. I think that is not used is these types of storied very often. I was taken by the story and the characters. Everything was easy to understand in the book and it moved at a speed I was good with and the plot was exciting for me to read. * I received this book from the author--this is my honest review*

With Muriel missing, and her ex starting up a cult, Nicola knew that she had to find out what was going on. Taking her best friend Joseph with her, she finds herself in the middle of potential war against the Norse gods. After a Valkyrie helps them confront her ex, Nicola got tricked to accepting a mission to find all the Runespells and save the world.
Whilst I enjoyed the story, I felt that results were achieved pretty quickly and at times without conflict. Nicola’s character was confusing as she tried to come across as a strong character, but relied heavily on Joseph and Mercy, and I do not know where she would have been if she had not bumped into the Valkyrie.
Nicola’s magic came from her emotions and it was interesting to read the explanation of what she was tapping into. The action picked up once the Runespells came into play and the final battle scene put Nicola to the test. The second book is now out if I wish to continue with the story.

Never have I read a book with a more vivid imagining than Too Wyrd.

This book was so well-written that I forgot that I was reading at all. I became Nicola. Her experiences became my own. Every sight, sound, taste was a vivid rendering within my mind. The astral scene was exquisitely done. I found myself falling in love with these characters and this word. The banter is witty and entertaining. The relationships are believable and raw. This is easily the best book I have read this year. I cannot wait to continue the journey for the runespells.

* This is one of the books I read for #SPFBO as a judge *

I wasn't sure where this book would go when I first started it, because it's quite different to a lot of things over read before. It has hints of the Dresden Files and hints of Dyrk Ashton's series too. It's a mix of urban fantasy and old Norse gods, magic, Valkyrie and more. There are battles and sigils and big deceits. There is family and feuding and policemen who don't really know what is happening.

In this book we follow Nicola. A lady who just wants to look out for her daughter and step sister and get on with her life. However, when the book starts her ex is trying to start a crazy cult and her step sis is falling for his mumbo jumbo. With a young daughter to leave behind Nicola embarks on a hero's journey she didn't sign up for to save the world and learn about her magic along the way.

I definitely think the second half of this worked better for me. That's where the action really kicks into gear and you start to learn a lot more about the world. At first you're kind of just thrown into the deep end of the world and working out what's normal and what's not. But as you get to know Nicola and the people who she's with you see more about the goings on and how she may be involved.

I do think that this one felt like a quick read once I hit the mid-point. There was a lot of action and I enjoyed the constant moving through scenes.
I would probably have liked a bit more development on the 'why' of the world being how it is and the motives of Nicola as some of the decisions she made seemed a little rash considering the situation she was in, but it was an easy book to read.

3.5*s from me and 7/10 overall for SPFBO.
