The depth of feeling in this book stuck me in a way lots of my 5* reads don’t. One of the author’s love for the setting really bled through the pages. The way they captured teenage infatuation and the early, gentle stages of young relationships was brilliant. Grief was a constant companion throughout and I was desperate to find out more about Duncan and the first fallout of Macy and Elliot’s relationship.

Took me a little to get into at the start. Surprised by the ending as it wasn’t what I expected. Read in two days.

As I didn't really enjoy another book I read by these authors, I didn't have big expectations but this one was actually good but I still have some things I didn't like

The writing was good and I loved the switch between past and present and all those small conversations and interactions between the main characters. I think that it added more complexity to the relationship main couple shared and it also helped with character development.

I have nothing against ending too even though I thought that the period couple spent apart should have been more discussed; one cannot go back to being "lovely-dovely" after such a huge break not matter their bond and all this "we are soulmates" thingies.

now things that I didn't enjoy fully
- the boyfriend - i get that he had a kid he had to take care of and that he had to have his life in order but the man obviously was only there for physical relationship, like i didn't feel even a bit sorry for him

- the break-up saga - i want to justify it with them being emotionally unstable and immature but this woman had 10 years to get over it and she didn't seem over it. I don't know "she was too drama" in that moment, at first I understand why, but after 1 year, maybe she should have gone down there and asked for explanation (maybe?)

yeah, that's all

uhm.

elliot literally being sexually assaulted just being brushed over within 15 seconds as “accidentally cheating” was weird. so weird. the ending was good but they just BRUSHED OVER THAT??? and macy made it all about her being like “it doesn’t matter if he cheated or not he hurt me”. HE WAS ASSAULTED. he didn’t cheat he told you what had happened he thought that was you he was so drunk jesus christ
