The main character, Alix London is an art expert trying to get her career off e ground in the shadow of her crooked father. The story seemed slow at times. Also, the love interest of the main character wasn't really well established before they started " falling in love ". The story itself was worth the read

A good mystery. Nothing special but kept me absorbed.

3-1/2 stars...one half for the settings...Santa Fe. Espanola. Ghost Ranch. Some of my favorite places in the country...but you do NOT go to Taco Bell in Espanola. That is just not done.

Art, history, suspense, and a fledgling romance. A disreputable father pulling strings...and Georgia O'Keefe.

Alex London book 1

Art, forgeries and murder, how could you miss? It was heart pounding, interesting and enjoyable to me as an art lover.

This was a punt, because it was on offer, and it sounded interesting - a crime thriller set in the art world. Sadly, it was a pot-boiler. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes at the clichés, never mind the inconsistencies in the plot. Add to this my personal irritation as an archivist at the authors' sniping at our professional standards, and you can see why I've only given it two stars. I won't be reading any more in the series. It wasn't even mildly diverting.

This novel was a pleasant read and it was clear that the authors had done their "homework" in writing it. The repair of the painting in the opening and the geography and details of Santa Fe, Taos, and the Ghost Ranch seemed plausible.

The book reminded me of a bit of [a:Daniel Silva|29085|Daniel Silva|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1240154365p2/29085.jpg]'s Gabriel Allon character in that he comes from a family with a strong painter/art background and he's an art restorer but then the two novel series depart. While Gabriel is a member of the Israeli Intelligence agency, Alix London is just starting out and the background she brings with her comes from her father's prison time for art forging. I do like that by the end of the novel, she's invited to consult for the FBI's Art Squad with some additional perks.

I'm looking forward to the next novel in the series. Oh, and the Kindle editions are affordable.
