How seemingly unconnected items and families truly are connected over a century.
Excellent storytelling.

Good story. Had me hooked. I am thinking there will be a sequel?

3.5* Very enjoyable premise and lots of mystery and intrigue but left a few loose ends that felt like a letdown when I finished.

I really wanted to love this, since her other books were some of my favorite "easy reads". This had a lot of potential but really missed the mark. The ending was contrived and disappointing, the storyline was confusing and spent too much time bouncing back and forth without connecting the dots and the characters were never given sufficient time or detail to develop.

Enjoyable read. I struggled with giving it a full 4 stars because some of the chapters that bounced from one time period and cast of characters to the next were confusing. I truly love when an author can prove the shared human condition no matter the era, but this missed the mark. The romance between the modern characters was kinda gross/unhealthy, and the other major relationship in the book wasn’t satisfying in the least. Above all, the writing style is good and left me feeling good about the time spent on it.

I expected better knowing how highly this book was rated. But it was boring and trite. Every historical fiction book lately has followed the same format (I know this book isn't that new but I've seen it done better). I found the flashbacks interesting but the present day romance? Put me to sleep. These two have no chemistry at all.
