I didn’t love it, but it had a lot of potential.

Wren is a giant yeti teddy bear and I just love it. Also, the relationships that Calla builds not just with her father and Wren, but with everyone else in Alaska and the fact that she treasures their stories so much is very heartwarming.

I think my reading slump may have affected this rating because I feel like it should be a full five but it took me so long to read it. I just really loved this and the Alaska vibes. I loved all the characters (calla did annoy me at first but she did change). I loved the relationship with Jonah. I really enjoyed how her relationship with her father grew. This is not all light and fluffy because I literally cried so much at the end.

This is a contemporary fiction about a woman who was invited to Alaska because her dad, who she hasn't heard from for 12 years, has lung cancer. It's touted as a romance book but imo the romance is a very slow burn one and it's not the huge focus of the book. It's focused on family, forgiveness, community, and friendship. This book is well written and even though the romance is slow (the plot isn't slow though), it still gives me good warm tingly feelings. Definitely has heavy materials in it so not something you'd want to read if you're avoiding grieving topics. But otherwise amazing book, amazing plot and characters as well.
