I’ve always thought Jenny Slate was hilarious, but I was surprised at how beautifully written this book is. her descriptions and metaphors of everyday things are so rich and intense and such a joy to read.
it’s so raw yet funny and so intensely relatable. I can’t stop thinking about the beach animals chapter. what I wouldn’t give to live on the beach and be friends with a little bunny!!
I love women and I love Jenny Slate!

I don't usually read many short stories, but these were so unique and I really enjoyed them. Jenny Slate does not try to be pretentious with her writing. She is not trying to impress us, but to show us inside of her. Her feelings and her head; what she thinks about and dreams about and where her mind wanders.
_
She has an astounding and such an unique way of writing and creating imagery. There is a lot of stream of consciousness writing that ends up giving you such a vivid perspective in your mind that you forget that maybe there was no point at all to the story. And there were stories where the emotion was so real and raw that you could actually feel it in yourself. There is loss and happiness and sadness and heartbreak and anger. There are messages about being a woman, being a lost soul, and being silly and loving.

Thank you to the publishers for a free copy of this book. I was happy to give my honest thoughts.

This book is both exactly what I thought it would be as well as nothing I expected. Slate has written a book of prose poetry that is a metaphor for her color spirit soul and she lays it all out for everyone to examine. It's vulnerable and weird and sad and hopeful.
