Likte den godt. Likevel ikke så sterk som Hvis helvete var av is. Full omtale ligger her:

As I enjoyed the first book a lot some time ago, I decided to also read the follow ups in the Captain Servaz series. After having read the first three installments in MBotF, I needed something completely different. This crime novel was the perfect change of style (and language, as I read it in Dutch).

I have to say that this is again a good installement in the Captain Servaz series. The story starts of with a murder. Servaz is contacted by the mother of the assumed perpetrator, a former lover of him, and asks his help to proove her sons innocence. this brings us to Servaz' past; he returns back to the city and college he went to as a young adult and he meets people he hasn't seen for a long time. As the story progresses it seems Julian Hirtmann is also involved.
Among all of this we also get flashes of a woman being tortured and abused.
The story finally ends off with one open plot thread, and I'm certain this will be picked up again in one of the following books.

Conclusion:
In the end I slightly prefer the first book over the second. They both have the same strenghts; good writing, a good story with great developed characters, enough background information on the characters and their history, mystery and tension and all loose ends are closed off sufficiently. The reason I prefer the first over the second is especially because of the ending. I thought this was worked out better in the first. It's still good in the second as well, but it's over before you know it. Another pleasant read in each case. I've already started on the latest book in the series.
Rating: 8/10

I loved the first book and have been waiting a long time for the 2nd to be translated and available for kindle. It started out really strong and then around 50% it went off the rails. It was all over the place, I gave up at 60% because I just couldn't follow it anymore and didn't care. Disappointing!
