I love Maddie and Theo’s story, though they’re frustrating as hell sometimes 😆 they both show a lot of their personality and grow a lot in this one, and I love the underlying plot of Alexa’s wedding prep!!

Another Jasmine Guillory book that I absolutely adored. I did read both The Wedding Date and The Proposal before this book.

We are following the main side characters from The Wedding Date: Maddie and Theo, who apparently hated each other? Maybe I missed that party in The Wedding Date, but I did not realize how deep the animosity ran until the beginning of this book, and I was very put off by their attitudes and the sudden flip that happens at the beginning of the book. It seemed the beginning of this book was thrown together, which I didn't enjoy.

But about the first ten minutes of that, I loved the rest of the book. The secrets, the emotions, the build-up, the pushing of boundaries they did around their friends: chef's kiss to ALL of it.

Once again, Jasmine Guillory sucks you into not only the main story, but the B plots of both of these characters. The ending is wrapped up nicely and I'm hopeful to see these characters again as I continue to read Jasmine Guillory books!

I was looking forward to this one, but so far it’s my least favorite in the series. I just didn’t connect with the characters and the whole “we’re supposed to hate each other and we have to keep this a secret” thing got old really quickly. It wasn’t bad, just not my fave.

I love love love Guillory’s writing style!  She jumps right into the romance in chapter 1! I loved Maddie and Theo’s relationship and how they made each other better. You watched their growth. I think Theo grew more than Maddie which is why I gave it 4 stars. Very enjoyable, easy read that warmed my heart! Can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

I really enjoyed this book. I think this might be my favorite of Jasmine Guillory’s series so far. I loved Maddie and Theo. They were interesting characters, with interesting flaws and careers they care about, and I really enjoyed their chemistry on the page (or in the earphones in my case).

In this romance, Maddie and Theo don’t get along. They left a bad first impression on each other years ago and generally avoid spending time together, except that they share the same best friend. When that best friend (Alexa from book 1 in the series), gets engaged, they both end up in the wedding party and end up spending a lot more time together. You can guess where that leads.

It’s predictable, but the journey was fun. I will say that there is a scene with a political protest that becomes violent that was a little jarring as a reader in 2021, post-Capitol Insurrection. It’s a quick scene, but fair warning if you also feel a little triggered by that right now.

These books take place in the same universe and past characters make appearances, but you can totally read this one without having read any of the previous books in the series.

It was a fun read, but I felt like there were so many similarities in this relationship and storyline when compared to the previous book in the series. Since I listened to them back to back, those similarities really stood out to me.  I'll likely continue the series sometime, but am taking a break for now.
