Did I like it? No. Was it the most horrifying and brutal book I've ever read? Yes. Rating it highly because it was well written and terrified me, so all in all a good horror book. With that being said, I'll never read it again and you can bet I'll never ever recommend it to anyone.

I always enjoy SK books on the whole, however I hate the way King’s misogyny seems to slips out when it comes to his female characters. For example, the what’s a woman?” “a life support system for a cunt” bit. I know it’s a deliberate choice for the writing style/context, but this aggressively misogynistic shit gets exhausting to me after a while. It was still a thrilling read though.

I made the mistake of forgetting that StoryGraph has content warnings before starting this book. Had I known that this book dealt with pedophilia and incestual rape, I wouldn't have chosen this. Took away from my enjoyment of the book and ultimately just wasn't my cup of tea as that's not something I care to read about. Had it not included these things, my rating would've been different.

This book is incredible. The way that King describes trauma, flashbacks and dissociation from the characters POV is insane. This book had me gasping, it had me gagging, it had me at the edge of my SEAT. Real good stuff
