Wow. I love King & I love horror and I love this book but god it was uncomfortable to read. I really had breathe deeply through quite a few parts of this book if not close it and walk around for a bit to manage.

I normally don't love women written by men but I'll give credit, King really did a wonderful job in this book. Jessie & the many variations of voices she hears throughout this book was so interesting and for a book with primarily one location setting it is absolutely fascinating.

I really truly love this book so much, I don't know if I'll ever be able to read it again but I LOVE it.

If I saw a premise like this from any other author I'd probably pass. It sounds tediously grim, but as usual King manages to bring his own fascinating touch to it. It's still a very uncomfortable read, but in a gripping, tense way, and the ending is a killer.

She should have adopted the damn dog at the end.

I definitely would’ve DNF’ed if I wasn’t it reading for a readathon. I can see why people like this, but it is absolutely not for me and the exact opposite of what I’m looking for.

This was my first Stephen King novel and will be my last. He uses the word “cunt” in a really obnoxious way and he seems to be darkly fascinated by children and sexuality and exploiting them in that way. Making up horrific stories and scenarios and describing them in the most dense, pointless way. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
The twist at the end was laughable and had nothing to do with the story prior the last 40 pages. Terrible.

Get down, Disco Gerald!”

i feel like this is one king could have probably kept in the drawers, idk the writing and ‘plot’ to me just seemed very offhand (mind the pun💀) and i very much got the feeling nothing was planned out too deeply, just all a bit here and there ya know. as much as i was enraptured reading it, i wouldn’t say it was something i majorly enjoyed, if that’s even the right word to use for a book like this hahaha! i love king and his work and i think he has a godlike talent for writing but i just wouldn’t use this particular work of his as an example for that…
