Warnings: physical violence, gun violence, human experimentation

With Alex doing her part of protecting the city from demon attacks, a new complication comes in her life in the form of her ex reappearing and a shady biotech company gunning for her. With her being the target since she carries the Witchblade, Alex may have to resort to taking help from unlikely sources, and dubious advice that leads her into further trouble. I loved the raising of the stakes in this second installment, as she is attacked by a different means, something by which she couldn't defend herself because of her lack of knowledge. It falls to her team to get her out of trouble, but with the power of their enemy, things get dicey for them. The plot is riddled with duplicitous motives, betrayals, and hidden agendas, and I loved it. The artwork was ridiculously beautiful, as before, with an aesthetically pleasing style and good storyboards. The pace of the story was also relentless - it was difficult to put down, though it did make for some confusing situations at times. Overall, a brilliant second volume!

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review from Image Comics.
