This book is like a sneeze you can’t get out. You get invested in a chapter only to have it end abruptly, the country never to be mentioned again. Sometimes, it seems like the author isn’t even finished with the thought. Many parts read like textbook excerpts, despite that being the opposite purpose of the book. It‘s also too Eurocentric. Great concept though. 2.5 stars, but I give it the extra 0.5 for effort.

3.5, this came as a present so I didn't really chose it myself. This is not your average history book as it is written by different scholars from each of the nations showcased in the book. You aren't getting history so much as that person's view of whatever part of the nation's history the writer chose to look at...
