-DNF-

Among all my DNF's, this one is better. I couldn't finish it because I was too busy at that moment, plus I lost my interest in books because I'm too absorbed in my forensic science book. .

First of, I really like the plot. It's refreshing and interesting. An idea of mutant humans with bird genes is rather fascinating. And I applaud the author for that.

But, the characters doesn't really hit off with me. Max, the leader of the squad, just wants to find Angel, who was abducted by the Erasers, which is pretty annoying. As a leader, I do know that saving teammates is important, but one should also care for others.

In whole, good plot, bad characters, nice settings. It was an okay read.

This book has been read by my students for years and now I know why! It has the science fiction aspect to really hold the attention of middle grade readers, and it's a series, so it's perfect to get reluctant readers to keep reading. Great novel!

There were several things I liked about the book, but overall I have to say it didn't do much for me. I really enjoyed the beginning. It was engaging, made me think "Ooooh!" and made me want to keep reading. I liked each member of the flock (though I have to admit Angel was freaking me the heck out by the end of the book). I was very interested the ethical dimensions that were hinted at in the book - scientific experimentation on humans, referred to as things or "It" by the scientists. I should have liked the book. But I didn't, really. I didn't find the writing compelling, even though there were several elements I enjoyed. At this point I don't really want to keep reading the series. It's not that I'm not curious about what happens next. I am. I just don't feel compelled to read the books. I'd be happy to have someone summarize future books for me.

Though it was a good book it was kind of strange with all the mutant stuff. But, that is what makes it different gives it a personality. The twists hidden inside are very interesting and shocking, it kept me captivated, when I put the book down to do something else I came right back to it. It was very interesting.

This book was alright. It was interesting but below my reading level. The characters were developed fairly well but Max's internal monologues annoyed me just a bit. Overall the plot was exciting
